Community partnership – Kirkley Lodge Care Home Lindisfarne Care Home

Community

Students from Catcote 6th Form have recently had a visit to Kirkley Lodge residential care home in Middlesbrough. Students enjoyed speaking to the residents about their lives and interests and found out lots of information 1st hand about the Second World war. On 25th February residents from Kirkley Lodge will visit Catcote Sixth Form where they will enjoy afternoon tea and a ‘chin wag’.

Students have enjoyed speaking to staff about jobs in health and social care and some would like to pursue this as a career when they leave.

Students have also been visiting Lindisfarne Care Home, the students have been entertaining the residents, helping in gardens, kitchen and hairdressing. This project will continue to grow with a chance of students applying for volunteering positions and once interviewed will then volunteer on a weekly basis. This project supports community partnership, but also students have made appointments with the Care Home Manager and been invited to interview – developing fantastic employability skills.
