Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Students from Catcote Academy recently completed their ‘Gold Residential’ section of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. The 5 students camped out all week in the Academy’s ‘Outdoor Zone’ and worked tirelessly at Summerhill Country Park and Visitor Centre’s nature reserve, clearing an overgrown woodland area, cutting down many trees and making ‘living fences’ which will help nature thrive in the future.

With help from Summerhill staff, Claire and John, the students used a wide range of tools and practiced lots of work related skills and behaviours from the work they carried out

We would also like to thank Parents and Friends of Catcote Academy  for supporting in the purchase of tools, without which, the project would not have gone ahead.
