Raising funds to develop Catcote outdoor learning and fitness zone

We have planning permission to change our under used playing field into an Outdoor learning and fitness zone, a unique development that will enhance the curriculum and benefit the community. It has been specifically designed for children, young people and adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.
Once it is established we hope the zone can be used by Parents, friends and local groups.
We in the process of fundraising the £443,000 it will cost to build it.

We have submitted bids to many charities and had lots of interest from them, such as Sport England, Wolfson Foundation, Bailey Thomas trust and Garfield Weston, James Knott.
So far, we have offers of support from these charities amounting to approximately £133,000.
So, we are hoping to get working on the first stage soon!

The development will include:

  • Wheel chair friendly track, which will also provide space for the use of specially adapted bikes
  • A rough track that can be used for more able runners (that could also be used for orienteering, park runs/ buggy runs)
  • There will be specialised equipment that will measure pulse rates, and outdoor gym equipment (specially designed for disabled users)
  • Assault course/ adventure equipment (again specifically designed to be fully inclusive)
  • Welly wash area, pond, outdoor music area for sensory play and environmental learning
  • Fire pit and briefing area as an outdoor classroom area
  • Area for den building and camping area that can be used for forest school and Duke of Edinburgh
  • Two newly developed junior football pitches.

Catcote Parents and friends are working hard to help us raise funds towards the Zone amounting to £10,000 so far, as well as making applications for funding to charities on our behalf.

We would be very grateful for any donation however small.
