Nakita, one of our STEPs students, which is our pathway to independence and employment, has been attending a work placement since the summer of last academic year in West View Care Lodge. Her job coach Helen Newton, has been working closely to support both Nakita and her employer even visiting on a Saturday. Last Saturday was especially important as it was Nakita’s first shift as a PAID employee at West View Care Lodge. Nakita is now working part time on bank staff and will continue to do so until the end of her Supported Internship in July when she will become a fully-fledged fulltime member of staff. Nakita has not only grown in her work skills but confidence in her own abilities too. She has become part of the team at West View Care Lodge. Well done Nakita we are very proud of you. We would also like to thank all the staff at West View Care Lodge for their continued support with our learners and recognising work ready young people.
